The challenge

In a time of change within the sustainable energy industry, Energiecontrol faced a unique challenge: approaching customers of a bankrupt company, Duurkracht. Many of these customers had questions about the warranty on their installations and the potential risks of not having proper monitoring.

Main bottlenecks: - No warranty: Without a new service provider, the warranty on the installations lapsed. - No monitoring: Systems were no longer monitored, which could lead to unnoticed problems. - Lost yield and safety risks: Non-functioning systems could cause loss of yield and poorly installed systems brought fire risks.

WhatsApp was used to stay in touch with customers at scale. Thanks to the personal approach, customers could be informed quickly and easily.

The solution

Energiecontrol saw an opportunity to stay in touch with the customers through a strategic WhatsApp message. The message highlighted the main risks and the benefits of a warranty check-up, which was offered for 125 euros.

The messages were sent in a clear sequence: 1. Introduction message: Announcement of the bankruptcy and the possible risks 2. Explanation of the check-up: Detailed information about what customers could expect 3. Price communication: Transparency about the cost of 125 euros including VAT 4. Option for phone contact: A no-obligation call from an expert

How it works in practice

The campaign was set up in a structured way with multiple touchpoints. Customers first received an introduction message, followed by more detailed information. If interested, a check-up could be scheduled straight away. Hesitant customers were given the option to speak with an expert by phone.

Conclusion

Energiecontrol proved that proactive communication via WhatsApp not only helps to retain customers, but can also generate new revenue. By removing the uncertainty around the warranty and offering a clear value proposition, they were able to convince a significant share of customers to take action.
